New Year, New Life.

January 1st, 2008

2007 has ended and at a first glance I seem to be stuck in this endless loop of study and work. This time of year is rough for many people, as it causes you to reflect on what you have done and where you wanted to be. Looking back over this year I can’t say that I have achieved everything that I wanted but I have certainly made some significant decisions, the most important of which was to get married.

The beautiful part of being married is that every step that I take in the future is taken together. I’m not stuck in a loop, I am merely stuck in one of life’s ruts. My wife and I are always able to put things back into perspective for each other and I am glad she is there to pull me out when I need her. There are so many more decisions to make and even more challenges to come. I won’t be making any ridiculous new years resolutions, I will just keep moving forward, only this time I have help.

WordPress Plugins

December 24th, 2007

Today I finished my “Tagline History” plugin and decided to put it up on the site to see if anyone else is interested in it. I have to say that for a first time user of WordPress it was very quick and easy to develop a plugin and I am really impressed with how well it has turned out. Depending on the outcome of this plugin I might have to start thinking about other features I can add.

Ultimately I think I want to incorporate some AJAX in there somewhere, everyone loves AJAX :).

Rain?

December 21st, 2007

You know, water falling in drops from vapor condensed in the atmosphere, it seems that many people in Melbourne have simply forgotten of its existence. I couldn’t help but smile when everyone got up to look out the window, as if the whole concept of rain was ridiculous. I have to admit it has been some time since we have seen rain in these amounts and for some reason the recent storm activity has been really relaxing, but I feel this is mostly because the rain was taking my attention away from stressful issues at work.

A Fresh Start

December 15th, 2007

After a while I start to feel bad for my website as it sits idol with nothing more then a static HTML page to show for itself. I am sure that if it could communicate with me, it would express its disappointment with all the false hope and promises of a better existence. I have often fooled myself into thinking I was putting it to use, however in reality pages that are often hidden in sub directories and only a few people have ever seen is not really “use”.

Sure I have done some pretty cool things from time to time, even attempted to make a pong game using ajax, an ajax photo gallery, wedding information and I also had a blog, most of them now slowly gathering dust in an unknown sub directory or are soon to be outsourced like a government IT department.

So for this fresh start I have decided to move the blog the the numero uno spot, also known as “/” or root. This way when I do visit my website I will hopefully feel shamed into posting some irrelevant information about the goings on in my life, again I may just be luring my website into another of those false hopes, but only time will tell.
